Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Building Services Technician or Certificate in Building Environmental Systems, or equivalent
  • Journeyman certification in plumbing, heating, or electrical is an asset
  • Five years of relevant work experience
  • Experience in a mechanical, or electrical trade, or equivalent required
  • Administration or supervisory experience considered an asset
  • Experience working with computerized energy management systems considered an asset
  • Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset
  • Experience with an electronic work order system considered an asset
  • Ability to be on call 24/7 except when on vacation
  • Third Class Power Engineer considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular and consistent basis according to Northwood's corporate standard

Major Responsibilities:


  • Organizes, directs and is accountable for personnel in maintenance, repair of mechanical and electrical equipment systems, general maintenance procedures, and all building service contracts
  • Manages the Department operating budget
  • Oversees all repair and maintenance work being conducted within the facility by outside contractors
  • Works with the site team and supervisor to establish priorities
  • Maintains and promotes adherence to safety procedures; ensures personnel practice safe working habits
  • Maintains knowledge and compliance with regulations and standards e. Department of Health and Wellness LTC Program Requirements, applicable Accreditation Canada standards.

Tasks:


  • Ensures that maintenance and repairs of infrastructure is carried out efficiently and follows schedules as well as sound engineering practices, principles, and regulatory standards
  • Ensures outside contract work is performed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensures personnel are trained and knowledgeable about the equipment and machinery being utilized
  • Responds to complaints, concerns, and incidents ensuring appropriate corrective action and follow up is taken and documented
  • Maintains staff schedules and work assignments
  • Uses the work order system to manage and prioritize work flow
  • Responds to grievance and complaints effectively
  • Maintains positive and effective relationships with department staff, union representatives, and external partners
  • Ensures all construction projects are following Northwood's infection control policies as per CSA standards.
  • Responsible for the management of assigned cost centers, and is accountable for variances in the department's budget and expenditures.
  • Identifies, promotes, and facilitates opportunities for growth, development, and education of self and staff.
  • Responsible for coordinating safety equipment maintenance and testing

As per Northwood Scale

Salary:
$60,590.40-$75,732.80 per year
