VISION + PURPOSE
The vision and purpose of the CAD Technician position is to:

  • Design and Foodservice Drawing Support; by participating in design projects alongside design team members, sales consultants, and clients to produce high quality design drawings. Continuing to grow and develop individual design capabilities, product knowledge, industry expertise and foodservice facility best practices.
  • Design Innovation; by creatively envisioning possible efficiencies to better support the different design tasks and teams by utilizing the understanding of the processes within Foundry Foodservice Design.

5 KEY COMPETENCIES REQUIRED

DESIGN + AUTOCAD EXPERIENCE

  • Strong desire to grow ability to produce layouts and elevation drawings using CAD software.
  • Experience with CAD software, related tools, and design industry software best practices.
  • Utilize Foundry design standards to efficiently produce drawing documents and ensuring the best practices are being followed for design standards and processes.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD essential; Understanding of Revit and experience would be an asset. Other software knowledge will be evaluated on a casebycase basis.

PROJECT SUPPORT

  • Demonstrate an ability to take direction from Project Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrate an ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently. Tasks include generating layout drawings, elevations, service schedules, etc
  • Own assigned tasks and maintain high levels of communication and transparency with project lead and team members.

CREATIVE CURIOUSITY

  • Question status quo and creatively envision possible efficiencies to better support team.
  • Ability to learn and utilized past learnings to grow their experience and future design projects.
  • Willing to learn about commercial construction and other relevant industries.
  • Seek to learn foodservice facility environments, foodservice design including product knowledge and mechanical/electrical requirements.

  • Able to work respectfully and collaboratively with other departments and team members.
  • Willing to get hands dirty and doing ridealongs with other departments to better understand their challenges.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES

DESIGN AND PROJECT SUPPORT

  • Support and generate drawings based on a Lead and or Junior Designers direction for all projects.
  • Design high quality and accurate foodservice facility designs. Including KEC layouts, elevations, service drawings, schedules, etc.
  • Ensure a high level of detail for design packages by following design and Quality Assurance processes and standards.
  • Maintenance of Design CAD Library, Design Standards and processes, and Design Cookbook.
  • Maintain awareness of the sold scope of deliverables and budget and proactively communicate progress.
  • Participate and support with client meetings to present designs at various milestone stages in partnership with a Lead Designer and or Sales. Own the creation and distribution of meeting minutes when attending.
  • Build AQ project and file folder database to compliment estimation and sales conversion.
  • Generate conceptual sketch layout and plan views for review by a Lead Designer for small projects.
  • Research and proactively suggest equipment, stainless fixtures and or design solutions to the Lead Designer that could enhance the Foundry design and consultation package.

DESIGN INNOVATION

  • Participate in various Foundry Product Knowledge (PK) learning opportunities to further product and design knowledge.
  • Support Design Manager by proactively identifying inefficiencies and communicate possible design process solutions.
  • Take advantage of Foundry learning resources (Test Kitchen, Showroom, Stainless Shop, etc).
