Assistant Controller
, a new and exciting role.
The Assistant Controller will play a key role in the finance team, supporting accurate financial reporting, compliance with IFRS, and effective internal controls. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, this role requires a CPA‑designated professional with strong technical accounting expertise and experience in the natural resource sector. The successful candidate will be hands‑on, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working in a dynamic, project‑based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
- Maintain the general ledger, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals
- Account for exploration and development activities, including cost tracking
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial variance analysis
- Manage intercompany transactions and reconciliations across multiple currencies, including reporting requirement for hyperinflationary countries
- Support audit, tax, and regulatory filings by preparing schedules and working papers
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, external auditors, and consultants
- Assist the Corporate Controller with financial analysis, reporting, and special projects
- Contribute to continuous improvement of accounting processes, systems, and internal controls
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- CPA designation required
- Minimum 6 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the natural resource, mining, or exploration and development industry
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS
- Experience with Sage 300 is a strong asset
- Spanish language proficiency is considered an asset
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting systems
