    Salary Range: $64,032 to $84,012 per year

    Qualifications:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse, Primary Care Paramedic, Registered Nurse, or Advanced Care Paramedic preferred.
  • Eligibility for licensure in a related health profession (ACoP, CLPNA, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience using Health Sciences Placement Network (HSPnet) would be an asset.
  • Experience using Excel Tracking and CompTracker would be an asset;
  • Knowledge of external agencies and related programs to facilitate student placements would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well autonomously and in a team environment.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with a Health-related background.
  • Possess an understanding of academic health care programs.
  • Exercise discretion and confidentiality in the performance of the position.

    Position Description

    Administrator, Student Placement

    Nature and Scope of Work

    This position's primary responsibility is to provide planning, support, and monitoring of program needs. There is a requirement to input data to support the program areas. This includes instructor-led clinical practicum placements, and preceptor-led practicum placements. Requesting, implementing and tracking practicum placements for students in the Northern Lakes College Paramedic Programs. Act as a liaison between the College and external agencies, organizations, and health regions. An extensive knowledge of the paramedic program requirements and the Alberta health care system is required. Competencies and tasks of the position will be consistent with the educational principles of the College, which focus on meeting the learning needs of students.

    Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program Chairs and Coordinators to plan, advise, and monitor program needs:
  • Maintain academic records.
  • Data collection and entry.
  • Assist with ensuring students have the necessary resources to be successful.
  • Attend regularly scheduled department meetings and other meetings as required.
  • Collaborate with the Chair, Coordinator, and Instructors to facilitate practicum placement experiences for students:
  • Research and recommend potential clinical and ambulance placement sites, provide information to department Chair, Coordinator, Instructors, and students, when course demands change or evolve.
  • Consult with instructors to match students and preceptors.
  • Support the process of obtaining, updating, and acquiring new student placement agreements.
  • Maintain Accurate Student Records:
  • Record current relevant student information.
  • Oversee and maintain HspNet Database including student placements.
  • Maintain up to date inventory of student information.
  • Compose written communication to students as needed.
  • Verify student records to confirm all College program and practicum placement requirements are met (e.g., criminal record and vulnerable sector search, immunizations, BLS certification, WCB coverage, etc.).
  • Record and track clinical placement experiences for all students throughout the program to ensure program approval requirements are met for each student.

  • This position is accountable to and reports to the Program Chair of Paramedic Programs.

  • Ensure that placements meet the requirements for program approval through the Alberta College of Paramedics.
  • Ensure that students have obtained all requirements and pre-requisites prior to the start of the placement.
