    Position Overview:

    We are looking for a Principal to join the Private Credit team of a multi strategy global investment firm, based in Toronto. The right candidate will join a collaborative team and have an opportunity to work on credit transactions across a broad range of industries within the North American market. In this role, you will help the team with all aspects of sourcing, diligence, execution, monitoring and development of junior team members. Our client works in small deal teams, where you will have a significant amount of responsibility, opportunities to learn and influence the investment process.

    The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of private credit experience with specific emphasis on opportunistic credit type of structures. You are dynamic, creative, with a strong investment mindset in understanding businesses and credit structuring.

    Your Responsibilities:

    • Analyze potential investment opportunities across a variety of industries;
    • Conduct detailed research and evaluation of new investment opportunities (modelling, investment memos, lead due diligence, engage with advisors);
    • Lead the execution of new private credit transactions, including due diligence, structuring, involvement of junior team members and collaboration with senior team members, and presentation to investment committees as required
    • Assist with fundraising efforts as may be requested by prospective LPs;
    • Lead asset management activities of portfolio companies;
    • Must be highly adept at sophisticated financial modeling as may be required in the investment process;
    • Lead and drive negotiating and structuring documentation

    Experience and Qualifications:

    • A bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, or other related fields
    • 8+ years of experience including at least 6 gained directly in private credit structuring, financial analysis and investment processes
    • Strong research, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
    • Proven experience and knowledge of finance, accounting concepts and opportunistic credit structuring
    • Proven experience investing and analyzing businesses
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills showing attention to detail.
    • Investment industry or Investment banking experience an asset
    • Works optimally in teams and has developed excellent mentorship skills in working with junior members of a team
    • Collegial and friendly
    • DealCloud experience an asset
    • Entrepreneurial - Self-starter, ability to operate quickly with lean resources and a passion for investing
    • Rigorous - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; organized and outstanding attention to detail; a high degree of accuracy in a fast-paced, results-oriented workplace; hard-working and willingness to work nights and weekends when required
    • Proactive and innovative - Thrives in a dynamic working environment; curious, eager to learn about and contribute to a wide variety of topics; suggests new ideas and new ways of working
