Medical Administrative Assistant - Part-time
About us:
We are an energetic, hard-working, and collaborative Family Medicine practice called Taddle Creek Connection made up of 3 doctors, a nurse practitioner, and other administrative staff.
We are located in Toronto's beautiful Annex neighbourhood at Bloor & Christie (steps from the TTC), adjacent to Christie Pits Park.

Opportunity:
We are looking for a dedicated, detail-oriented, and professional Medical Administrative Assistant with excellent communication skills who enjoys being busy and helping others.
Administrative duties:
- Greet and attend to patients and visitors in a friendly and approachable manner
- Answer incoming phone calls and Pomelo emessages
- Schedule and confirm appointments, take messages, and direct inquiries to the appropriate individual(s)
- Checkin patients and verify/update patient demographics and health card information
- Perform general office duties including photocopying, faxing, scanning, and assigning incoming faxes within Telus EMR, mailing out documents and sorting mail
- Process messages/actions in EMR
- Manage and followup on referrals, call patients with appointment information when received
- Look up clinic, specialist, and pharmacy contact information when needed and update the EMR with this information
- Process records requests
- Assist with billing and resubmission of billing claims.
Office maintenance:
- Autoclave medical instruments when needed; empty instrument buckets daily; clean other nonautoclavable instruments daily
- Check fridge temperature and make sure door is secure at the end of each workday
- Clean and disinfect the waiting room at the end of each workday
- Restock and clean/wipe down surfaces in exam rooms once a week
- Clean and tidy kitchen and common areas once a week
- Collect and launder medical gowns and sheets, and restock them weekly and as needed
Qualifications:
- Proficient computer skills and experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Record) software (Telus PSS and Pomelo experience is an asset, but not required
- Experience in a medical receptionist role or equivalent experience (preferably 2 years; a medical reception certification is an asset)
- Complete fluency of the English language, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with medical billing is an asset, but not required
- Able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Excellent interpersonal skills; patient and calm
- Self
- Receptive to feedback and willing to learn and improve skill sets
- Able to work well independently as well as within a team environment
- Able to deal with sensitive information with a high degree of privacy, accuracy, and diplomacy
- Fully vaccinated against COVID19
