The Senate Tavern
A line cook is responsible to prepare culinary menu items for our guests according to the standards of the Kitchen Manager.
The line cook is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in all areas of the kitchen.
A line cook should also understand that there are various duties associated with this job that are not food related such as managing stock, receiving various food and beverage orders and cleaning duties.
- Able to do repetitive work
- Knowledge of cooking procedures
- Able to communicate with Prep Cooks & Wait staff
- Knowledge of kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of safety rules for kitchen equipment
- Knowledge of where and how everything is stored
- Label and date all food stored & Rotate food as needed
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Flexible with job duties
- Obtain/have First Aid CPR certification
- Able to work all shifts and holidays
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to assigned shift
- Follow opening and closing procedures
- Able to work in a high pace and hot environment
- Able to multitask
- Report to managers when something is broken or needs repair
- Keep a clean, stocked and tidy workspace
- Be able to selfmotivate in work environment
- Able to follow written or verbal instructions
Job Types:
Full-time, Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week
Salary:
$18.00-$20.00 per hour
Schedule:
- 10 hour shift
- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Night shift
- Weekend availability

Ability to commute/relocate:
- OTTAWA, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
Licence/Certification:
- Food Safe, SafeCheck, Food Handler or equivalent (preferred)
