Tilley School **is seeking a uniquely qualified individual


This assignment requires the qualifications to teach _junior high STEM_, ideally coupled with the skills and abilities to successfully enhance students' educational experience by integrating _hockey and other athletic experiences_ into their school day.


Tilley School takes pride in running a Hockey Canada Skills Academy, for students, out of their newly built school that was opened in 2021.

Tilley School has approximately 90 students, ranging in grades from pre-kindergarten to 9.

The students receive a full range of academic offerings and well-developed options programs, including access to a fully operational mobile CTS construction lab.

Tilley School has an approximate student population of 90, in grades from pre-kindergarten to 9.

Job Duties:


  • Identify, plan and deliver instruction based on students' individual and collective learning and special needs;
- provide a stimulating learning environment in which each student can experience growth and develop to their potential;
- help students learn appropriate knowledge, skills;
- evaluate and communicate student progress and meet with parents;
- prepare and implement remedial programs for students requiring extra help;
- meet with other professionals to discuss individual student needs and progress;
- enhance long term athlete development, of a variety of students, by teaching individual technical and tactical skills in hockey and other sports such as baseball;
- volunteer to supervise extracurricular and after-school activities as well as work with community partners to access community facilities and be a member of the local recreation board; and
- attend meetings, seminars and in-service training sessions.
- promote the program for future student growth into the school and communicate the happenings of the program in social media to the community of Tilley and the Brooks surrounding area.
- be trained and/or certified in the National Coach Certification Program (NCCP) at a minimum of Coach
  • Coach Level by their Hockey Canada Member. Development 1 or 2 and High Performance 1 are beyond the minimum requirements and are acceptable.
If the lead instructor is not accredited in one of the above listed NCCP programs, they must complete, at minimum, two of the following four instructional stream clinics:
skating, developing defencemen, skills and small-area games. Opportunities to participate in the annual professional development through the HCSA Summer Seminar training program is also recommended.
- possess or must complete the Respect in Sport Activity Leader program and recertify every five years.

  • Able to follow the guidelines recommended in the instructional curriculum framework as set out by Hockey Canada. The onice curriculum framework focuses on technical skills, individual offensive and defensive skills and some situational play. The office curriculum framework focuses on developing agility, balance and coordination along with technical skill development.
