Chemical Systems Technician

Description
Performs routine analyses using Materials Engineering tools and standard instruments and test equipment, while positively impacting the organization's performance.


Operates analytical instruments and equipment and performs physical analysis in support of production and non-production engineering, quality, and manufacturing groups.

Prepares samples and specimens for testing using standard laboratory techniques, procedures, or work instructions.

Acquires and interprets data and documents results; provides written results in a laboratory or technical report format when appropriate.

Develops and documents laboratory methods.

Performs routine calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repair of instruments and equipment.

Coordinates the collection, transportation, and documentation of chemical waste disposal.

Works with and trains apprentices, trainees, and technicians.

Interfaces with customers, suppliers, engineers, and other functions.

Coordinates programs including planning, scheduling, ordering, and tracking.

Participates in the maintenance of quality procedures and work instructions.

Participates in improvement projects.

Develops and gives presentations to customers and suppliers.

Participates in self and team audits and associated corrective action.

Performs other miscellaneous duties, as required.

Data Reporting - Prepares documentation in a manner which clearly organizes and presents testing methods, instrument settings, the data and analysis to allow the engineer and customer to understand the results and form accurate conclusions and recommendations.


Material Characterization - Interprets mechanical, chemical, microstructural and physical properties using laboratory equipment to confirm compliance to print, and correlates these properties with field or component test results to determine robustness; defines appropriate material characterization schedule using correct laboratory equipment to ensure requirements are met.


Education, Licenses, Certifications


High school diploma or certificate of completion of secondary education or equivalent experience to the extent such experience meets applicable regulations.

This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.


Experience
Requires some work experience and intermediate level knowledge obtained through training or on-the-job experience.

Process and procedure developmentof lab and pilot scale chemical and material fabrication processes.

Execution of developed processesin Infant care -Manufacturing

Responsible for design andexecution of experiments/processes to support design of new products

Responsible for testing chemicaland physiochemical properties (ex. rheology, morphology, adhesion testing)

Assist with the physicalcharacterization of materials

Use viscometry, microscopy,stress/strain measurement techniques proficiently to analyse materials

Assist with the fabrication ofMEAs
