Whenever you walk down the street or go to a friend's house, you find yourself doing a quick scan around to assess potential risks.
In this role, you'll report to the Supervisor, Underwriting Operations, and will be responsible for adherence to Underwriting guidelines, procedures and regulations.
This role will balance member needs against business objectives to enable member satisfaction, profitable growth and underwriting excellence.WHAT MOVES YOU

WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Verify policy transactions and make necessary adjustments immediately, and effectively communicate to Agency and members
- Determine how to handle exceptional situations by actively listening to members' needs and finding appropriate solutions
- Identify and obtain additional information required to conduct a proper risk analysis
- Use sound judgement and reasoning to make informed risk selection decisions
- Articulate decisionmaking reasoning to advisors to assist with effective communication to the member
- Use your comprehensive knowledge of product manuals, policy wordings, regulations and company procedures to provide prompt, consistent and exceptional service
- Offer suggestions for developing and enhancing underwriting practices
WHAT YOU'VE DONE
- You have your high school diploma under your belt.
- You have a minimum of 2 years automobile and property underwriting experience
- Have completed or are working towards the completion of your CIP designation
- A Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting or related postsecondary education is an asset.
- You are ambitious, highly motivated and have a positive attitude
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and telephone etiquette
