    Description

    Conair is the largest, privately owned, fixed-wing aerial firefighting company in the world, operating a fleet of 70 specialized aircraft to fight forest fires.

    We have been supporting government agencies around the globe for over 50 years, with a reputation for providing service excellence, making us an industry leader.

    We are aerospace engineering experts, creating 15 different airtanker types, converting hundreds of aircraft into airtankers. We are aviation maintenance experts, performing repair, maintenance, and overhaul on our fleet.

    And we are operators, providing airtankers, crew and maintenance on contract over fire seasons to government agencies including Canada, the US, Australia, and France.

    The culture at Conair is built on a teamwork, with a commitment to people, safety, and service. We currently have an opening for a full-time permanent Senior Design Engineer based in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

    The Senior Design Engineer performs designs and creates mechanical drawings in accordance with Conair and Transport Canada Civil Aviation standards.

    Be a valued team member of bidding, preliminary design and execution stages of Design-Build projects as well as design assignments.

    Draft and arrange mechanical drawings in accordance with the Conair DAPM, and Transport Canada Civil Air Regulations

    Participate in the development of engineering data packages and technical manuals in support of airworthiness certification and other department purposes.

    Perform detailed review of design drawings, with a focus on cost effective manufacturing.
    Apply principles of project management in performing engineering activities.
    Support Procurement and Quality in vendor selection process
    Provide design and engineering support to internal and external customers.
    Participate in the administrative activities of the Engineering Department.
    Manage 3rd party engineers and engineering firms to provide quality deliverables on time and to a high standard.
    Occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to support project deadlines
    Mentoring and providing functional guidance to more junior design engineers.

    Display a detailed understanding of good design practice, seek out cost efficiencies and realize the constraints of constructability in fabrication and installation.

    Proficient in AutoCAD 2D and Solidworks software.

    Able to work productively with minimum supervision in a busy office environment as part of a larger integrated team.


    Training/Education:
    ~ ENG. in Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
    ~10+ years of experience in engineering design and drafting. (Aerial Firefighting products knowledge would be an asset.
    ~ Experience in a Manufacturing experience is an asset.
