Wellbeing
students and residents in the province and it is the provincial chapter of the Canadian Medical Association.
As the trusted voice of Saskatchewan's 2,600 practicing physicians, the SMA negotiates for and on behalf
of our doctors; supports the educational, professional, economic and personal well-being of physicians;
and advocates for a high-quality and patient-centred, health-care system.

Reporting to the Director, Physician Wellness & Support Programs, the Physician Advocate, Workplace
Wellbeing brings a physician perspective to the many areas of physician life and practice that are within
the purview of the SMA. This position works collaboratively with staff, members, and other health system
stakeholders to advance physician wellbeing and improve and strengthen the experience of medical
practice in Saskatchewan. Understanding the impact of the workplace on physicians' wellbeing and
advocating for system change is an integral focus of this position. This position will lead initiatives that
promote a healthy workplace including bylaws and rules that impact physicians in the workplace,
appreciation of the unique proposition physicians bring to the healthcare system.

There is a half-time position hours/week) located in Regina, SK.


Key responsibilities include:


  • In collaboration with the Consultant, Workplace Wellbeing, provide intervention for medical
learners and physicians in the workplace including mediation, conflict resolution, advocacy with
agencies, case management, referral to community resources, committee membership (as
required) and on-going support.

  • Develop positive relationships and collaborate with external stakeholders/agencies to resolve
workplace wellbeing concerns and issues.

  • Develop program strategic goals, educational and interventional initiatives/programs which
address workplace wellness concerns for students, residents, and physicians.

  • Provide leadership and advocacy as a member of the various committees appointed by the
Director, Physician Wellbeing & Support Programs

  • Provide guidance and support to the Medical Staff Association (MSA) Presidents.
  • Establish program performance indicators (OKRs) with the Workplace Wellbeing Team.
  • Collect data and perform analysis to evaluate the effectiveness and performance of the services
offered and to identify continuous improvement opportunities.

  • Lead the development of strategic SMA initiatives that promote the objectives of the Workplace
Wellbeing program.

  • Performs other program related duties assigned by the Director, Physician Wellbeing & Support
Programs.


Qualifications:


  • Must be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan.
  • Must be a member in good standing with the Saskatchewan Medical Association.
  • Experience in physician leadership/management as it relates to workplace wellbeing and conflict
resolution.
