Description
We are seeking a Vice President, Accounting to join our team in Winnipeg.


As a member of the Finance management team, the VP Accounting is responsible for providing accurate, timely and relevant information to internal and external stakeholders of People Corporation to enable business decision making.


The VP Accounting is responsible for the company's accounting functions including corporate and business unit accounting as well as the accounts payable function.


This is an outstanding opportunity for a seasoned finance executive with proven success leading a high performing accounting team in a complex, high growth organization.


The Vice President, Accounting will:


  • Oversee the shared services functions including accounting, revenue and accounts payable for People Corporation.
  • Management of a team of accounting professionals, including hiring, training and development.
  • Promote collaboration, standardization and risk mitigation within the accounting function.
  • Manage the monthend, quarterly and yearend accounting close processes.
  • Manage the transactional accounting cycle processes, including general accounting, revenue accounting and accounts payable
  • Drive standardization and process optimization efforts within the company with a shared services mindset.
  • Work closely with the transformation team in implementing a new financial information system.
  • Maintain and drive improvements in internal controls, policies and procedures and ensure compliance across the organization.
  • Work closely with acquisitions team, external reporting team, and business unit finance teams to ensure accurate and timely accounting for acquisitions and related integration of acquired companies.
  • Keep up to date on all emerging financial issues that may affect accounting processes.
  • Various reporting and analysis, as required.

To be successful
as a Vice President, Accounting
with People Corporation, you will need:

  • 8-15 years of progressive and relevant accounting experience, preferably in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Recognized professional accounting designation is required.
  • Proven leadership experience in building and motivating teams and encouraging a culture of accountability.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, critical thinking and problemsolving skills.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized.
  • Solid understanding of IFRS and internal control frameworks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and accounting systems.
**- Acquisition and integration experience preferred.
