Located in a small, rural community, we are proud to offer a 24/7 Emergency Department. With 19 inpatient beds, we provide acute, rehabilitation, and complex continuing inpatient care.

Our outpatient services encompass the continuum of care as we strike to meet the evolving needs of our patients and surrounding communities.


Position Description:


The Human Resources Associate, with a specialization in employee and labour relations is responsible for supporting one of our most valuable resources - our employees.

Working collaboratively with both leaders and the HR team, you will design and implement HR solutions, programs and policies in a unionized healthcare environment supporting the strategic priorities of our two hospitals.


Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree and certification as a Human Resources Professional or Human Resources Leader preferred or college diploma and equivalent experience as a human resources generalist or in human resources management
  • Certified Human Resource Leader (CHRL) designation; must be a member in good standing of HRPA

Experience:


  • 57 years Human Resources experience in a unionized, fastpaced environment
  • Detailed knowledge of Employment Standards minimum requirements, Labour Relations Act regulations and Human Rights Code
  • Excellent facilitation, conflict resolution and change management skills
  • Keen attention for detail, continuous improvement, and professionalism
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, problem solve and deliver results

Skills, Abilities, and personal Competencies:


  • Serve as a lead resource and advisor regarding employee and labour relations and collective agreement interpretation, including the development of work schedules
  • Provide oversight to all aspects of recruitment and retention functions and processes including onboarding to support a positive employee experience and enable the hospital to attract and retain talented employees
  • Provide backup support to payroll and benefits administration functions
  • Support and facilitate accommodation, performance and attendance management programs
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders regarding occupational health and safety issues management as well as serving on the Joint Health and Safety Committee
  • Offer oversight and consultation regarding AODA and lead hospital initiatives to ensure improved accessibility
  • Conduct analysis and assessment on the Human Health of the organization considering best practices, standards and peer benchmarking to ensure an efficient and healthy organization
  • Plan, organize, and track employee and leadership development programs
  • Coordinate and oversee student and volunteer placements
  • Participate in Agency oncall responsibilities
  • Conduct annual compensation review of all nonunion, nonexecutive positions as per organization policies
  • Provide individual, group and leadership coaching to help increase overall organizational performance
