Job Description:


Reporting to our Director of Demand Planning and Replenishment, the primary focus of the Replenishment Manager role is to manage the Hardlines & Specialty team in the purchase and allocation of inventory in Distribution Centres and corporate stores, with accountability for obtaining budgeted objectives including receipts, turns, and service level while optimizing inventory.


This role supports our supply chain strategy and customer experience as a key stakeholder in the replenishment activities across Pet Valu's Supply Chain business areas, supporting both national and private branded Hardlines and Specialty products across North America in the Pet Valu family of stores, including Chico.

Responsibilities:


  • Support and guide Replenishment Analysts in translating Merchandise Financial, Promotional, Seasonal and New Store Strategies into Vendor Allocation and Replenishment Strategies.
  • Partner with key stakeholders (Merchandising, Proprietary Brands team, Vendor partners, etc.), on longterm planning, forecasting, and other initiatives to support corporate goals.
  • Manage, develop, and mentor a team of Replenishment Analysts. Provide training, guidance, and assistance on all regular replenishment tasks. Recruit as required.
  • Ensure RA's maintain inventory levels of assigned products in corporate stores and Company DCs to support turns and service level targets.
  • Ability to enable Replenishment analysts to assess the most economic buying options and freight considerations when placing orders and adjust standard practices, as necessary.
  • Ensure that Pet Valu does not incur unnecessary holding costs and suboptimal inbound freight or transfer costs.
  • Review marketing plans and oversee purchases of stock required for all seasonal programs and planned promotions.
  • Produce quarterly receipt plans to support forecasted sales, tracking actuals against plan and adjusting as required. Leverage advanced tools and analysis to determine the optimal inventory required to allocate/replenish against forecasted sales to meet budget requirements.
  • Support Replenishment analyst with resolution of vendor issues, such as late shipments and shortshipped orders.
  • Execution/assistance in various Replenishment operations opportunities.
  • Assist in other departmental projects (IT, Store Ops, A/P, CSR, Finance, Mgmt.) as required.
  • Monitor excess/aged inventory and partner with Merchants on resolution.
  • Analysis, insight, and reporting for management.
  • Develop, improve, and document various Replenishment processes and procedures, ensuring SOPs and relevant documentation are updated as required.

Competencies:

  • Experience with Demand Planning & Replenishment systems (Blue Yonder, etc.)
  • Proficient in inventory management best practices, proven experience with optimizing inventory to align with budgeted KPIs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of supply chain processes and key performance indicators, with strong analytical skills to interpret data, track KPIs, and make datadriven decisions.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and operate effectively.
  • An effective team player who adds complementary skills and contributes valuable ideas and feedback.
  • Accountable for fulfilling any commitments made to others on the immediate or crossfunctional team. Ensure the right business leads are informed and involved when required.

Experience, Education, Certifications

  • Postsecondary education in business, supply chain or a related field. Relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in supply chain with a focus on Inventory Replenishment.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Understanding of Merchandise Financial Planning process inputs and outputs
  • MFP Methodology (Impacts on the Supply Chain processes).
  • Understanding of the conceptual balance between service level and inventory reduction.
  • Strong Time and Task Management organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of SQL or other programming languages is an asset.
  • Experience in the retail industry is required. Pet Food, Supplies and Accessories experience is ideal.
