Job Description:
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Liaison on site with contractor, client, other approving authorities, including addressing resident concerns
- Oversee daily on-site operations
- Work closely with the Project Engineer and Project Manager, to ensure construction is in compliance with project specifications
- Preparation and maintenance of daily work logs and other project documentation and reporting;
- Schedule and conduct regular project meetings with the contractor and client
- Provide clarification of drawings and direction to the contractor, with remote support from the Project Engineer
- Responsible for monitoring conformance to quality, performance, specifications, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties.
- Carry out surveys and measurements for quantity calculations
- Complete surveys for the preparation of record drawings
- Participates in punch lists, testing, and commissioning.
- Assist with the preparation of the Project Construction Completion and Final Acceptance Certificate; and
- Training of entry-level employees.
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements:
- 4 years of relevant experience in a field role on water infrastructure projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
- Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.); Certified Technician (C.Tech) or in the process of obtaining certification.
- Surveying experience
- Strong computer skills (Word and Excel)
- Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
- Ability to work unsupervised in a remote location
- Ability to document inspection and prepare field reports
Preferred Qualifications:
+ 8+ years of experience with the following:
- Managing civil, water and wastewater construction projects greater than $2 M
- Certified Inspector of Sediment and Erosion Control (CISEC)
- Projects of the same type, e.g. road reconstructions, land development, odour control facilities, water distribution systems, sewage collection systems, sewage pumping stations, sanitary sewer rehabilitation projects, etc.
- Construction methods of open cut, watertight closed sheeting, vertical trenching and all other trenchless technologies
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to details is essential skill
- Experience working around mobile heavy equipment
- Familiar with materials testing procedures and construction coordination services
- Ability to read and interpret Civil construction drawings and specifications
- AutoCAD and Civil 3D is an asset
