Position Description:

***: This position supports the information desk functions in the department of Telecommunications. This is done in accordance with Ministry of Health guidelines and departmental and hospital policies and procedures.


QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Grade 12 diploma with the completion of office administration courses
  • 12 years' recent experience working in an office environment
  • Demonstrated commitment to the values of Service, Responsible Stewardship, Community Responsiveness and Respect
  • Intermediate skill level in Excel and Word
  • Clerical testing may be required as part of the selection process
  • Professional appearance and manner must be demonstrated at all times
  • Maintain excellent interpersonal relationships while handling multiple tasks, frequent interruptions and stressful situations
  • Accurate data entry skills
  • Demonstrated ability to working independently, quickly and efficiently and deal effectively with patients, visitors and other contacts
  • Knowledge of the health care industry.
  • Willingness to learn new tasks and effectively work in a strong team environment
  • Good work performance and attendance record is essential
  • Ability to communicate effectively and tactfully, both in person and by telephone, focusing on excellence in customer service

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Answer inquiries of callers in accordance with hospital policy, giving accurate information or referring calls
  • Maintains confidentiality and release of information in accordance with hospital policy at all times
  • Efficiently process calls in an accurate and courteous manner
  • Maintains a positive image of the Hospital in telephone and personal communication, with patients, vendors, staff, visitors and external callers
  • Works collaboratively with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
  • Submit porter requests (via Dovetale or phone)
  • Receive/log parcels at information desk. Receive/log any patient valuables in hospital safe. Follow up on valuables not retrieved
  • Participates in the orientation and training of new employees
  • Reviews and commits to applicable departmental and hospital policies and procedures
  • Performing basic clerical functions for department as needed
  • Provides support for departmental activities and other duties as assigned by the Manager/Supervisor
  • Order office supplies
  • Other duties as assigned

WAGE RATE:

$ $ $29.72
(plus 14% in lieu of benefits)
