    JOB SUMMARY:

    Under the direction of the Family Medicine Department Head and the medical director for the area, the hospitalist performs non-specialized clinical work delivering general medical care to admitted patients in the assigned hospital facility.

    Duties include medical services related to the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and may require working closely with various health professionals.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in family medicine;

    A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criterium:

    • accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);

    OR

    • listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada under the Sponsor Notes tab;
    • Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered.
    • Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick*;
    • Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association*;
    • Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society;
    • Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
    • Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
    • Ability to remain calm;

    • Client service focus;
    • Interpersonal skills;
    • Problem-solving skills;

    NOTES:

    1. The salary for this position is sessional fees.
    2. Moving expenses allowance.
    3. Possibility of a recruitment incentive depending on eligibility, as determined by the Department of Health (return of service required).
