Position Overview:


Grant Thornton is seeking a Principal, Restructuring with an entrepreneurial mindset and strong leadership capabilities to help lead our expanding market reach throughout Ontario.

Our senior team are well known practitioners in the field, highly credentialed, with a proven track record of technical acumen, business results and leadership.


Opportunity:

This exciting opportunity will enable an experienced, market facing Corporate LIT to contribute to our growing practice.

You will become part of a large national insolvency practice in Canada and benefit from the resources and experience of practitioners across the country.

Your hands on management style and strong leadership skills will be used to influence and empower others to achieve their professional goals and contribute to a motivating team environment.


Key Accountabilities:


Service Delivery:


  • Main point of contact and interacting with stakeholders on file engagements (creditors, debtors, lawyers, lenders, etc.) for creditors and legal inquiries
  • Reviewing and analyzing financial information, financial projections and business plans
  • Building and maintaining client relationships with banks, lawyers and other clientele
  • Preparing, editing and proofing key correspondence, client and court reports, and letters to stakeholders
  • Filing various official documents with the Court and the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy and ensuring all deadlines are met
  • Hands on role on file engagements including communicating with stakeholders, attending to file issues on an as needed basis and developing resolutions
  • Reviewing invoices, preparing payments and handling trust account duties; preparing summary of receipts and disbursements for trust accounts as needed
  • Reviewing proofs of claims for compliance with requirements pursuant to the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and entering into software
  • Coordinating and attending external/internal meetings and events
  • Tracking project progress, milestones, and deadlines
  • Ad Hoc projects based on skills including taking possession, accounting analysis, summarizing financial information, etc.

  • Ensuring the highest quality delivery of services
  • Demonstrating technical leadership
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of a growth strategy for the Restructuring practice in the region that complements and is supported by the firm's overall strategy for growth
  • Play a key leadership role within the business unit, community and firm, by actively contributing to the development and execution of the business plan
  • Improving on the operational results of the practice by developing and maintaining productive relationships with clients from a variety of disciplines
  • Contributing to new business development by understanding Grant Thornton LLP and its service offerings, as well as leveraging your credibility within the industry
  • Developing a highperforming and highly engaged team through mentoring and coaching managers
  • Actively participate in business development efforts
