  • Why is this role important?

    This position is responsible for leading the development of FSI products relating to services provided outside the hospital setting in Canada using CMDB and CPCD data (includes the home care, long-term care and community sectors). The unique opportunity in this role is that most of the work will be new and will require collaboration with partners in CIHI's clinical data teams and external consultation. The goal will be to evolve FSI's role in supporting health system managers working in community level services.

    What you'll do

    1.Provides leadership and guidance to a team of analysts. Supervises, coaches, coordinates and monitors work, workload and performance of staff to ensure that quality is maintained and that learning opportunities are provided. Conducts annual performance management reviews.

    2.Leads and supervises the design, development, and dissemination of analytical products. This includes indicators, reports, analyses, briefing notes and other relevant information products. Ensures appropriate data verification and preparation prior to publication and release.

    3.Leads the methodological development/enhancement of new/existing products including the relevant conceptual and data quality analyses. Consults with internal and external stakeholders as required.

    4.Prepares senior level briefings and summaries to support the release and dissemination of publicly available data and analysis.

    5.Develops and implements project plans to align with broader FSI and corporate timelines. Manages risks and implements mitigation plans as needed.

    6.Contributes to the on-going efforts to improve data quality, in close collaboration with other FSI Program Leads.

    7.Supports stakeholders in the use and understanding of FSI products, including facility-level indicators and results.

    8.Establishes and maintains the relevant professional contacts at the provincial and national levels.

    9.Contributes to the promotion of CIHI products and services through participation on external committees, presentations and/or attendances at conferences, preparation of articles for publication and other activities, as required.

    What you'll bring to the table


    •Graduate degree in health services or business administration, economics, mathematics, accounting, quantitative methods or equivalent education/experience.

    •Five years' experience working in a related field.

    •Three years supervisory experience, including mentoring and coaching staff.

    •Experience working with large health-related databases. Experience with at least one of CMDB, CPCD, CCRS, HCRS is a requirement.

    •Understanding and experience using various statistical approaches and techniques.

    •Experience in use of Microsoft Office applications.

    •Strong project management experience.

    •Knowledge of and experience using Case Mix tools is considered an asset.

    •Knowledge of Canada's health system, specifically the long-term care, home care and community sectors is a requirement.

    •Knowledge of the MIS Standards is an asset.

    •Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.

    •Ability to fulfill travel requirements.

    •Fluency in both official languages an asset.
