Job Purpose

  • Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Assistant Site Supervisor primary responsibility is to Provide and backup the Site Superintendents in constructing housing units to the high standard of quality and workmanship so as to satisfy the time and cost commitments while maximizing customer satisfaction. As part of the site operations team, the Assistant Site Supervisor will be responsible to ensure completion of all other tasks as required.

Job Duties

  • Represent Habitat for Humanity GTA as a Brand Ambassador by modeling our values and guiding principles.
  • Learn, understand and participate in the Health and Safety Program
  • Provide backup to Site Superintendents
  • Provide all onsite administrative support ("clerk of works")
  • Recording shipments, invoices
  • Tracking onsite inventory of materials, equipment
  • File drawings, permits, Shop drawings, Etc.
  • Complete weekly status report, including contractors onsite, work completed, etc
  • Coordinate with onsite Volunteer Services personnel to resolve issues
  • Ensure safe work environments are maintained at all times
  • Issue purchase orders for onsite purchases within predetermined limits
  • Followup with trades to confirm and Maintain Construction Schedule and Commitments
  • Manage records of safety training for all volunteers and Subcontractors on site
  • Assist Site Superintendent in scheduling contractors, inspectors, deliveries, equipment rentals, etc
  • Attend training sessions or seminars pertinent to this position
  • All other tasks as required by the Director of Construction

What You Bring

  • A minimum of 35 years' experience in the residential low rise construction sector.
  • Experience with townhouse construction is considered an asset.
  • A construction related degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Understanding of OBC 2012 part 9, NBC, WHMIS, OHSA and Tarion
  • General knowledge of civil work and site servicing, foundations construction, carpentry, roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, masonry, drywall and finishing construction techniques and standards.
  • Eye for detail/organization
  • Flexible work schedule, typically Monday through Friday 7am 4pm with occasional weekend work and additional hours as required.
  • Willing to work from assigned sites within the greater Toronto area.
