Other Information:
The role of the K.A.P. Assistant is to support the K.A.P. Instructor and the goals of the K.A.P.
program through hands on interactions with kindergarten age students.

Responsibilities:

Supports the implementation of a high quality programming as planned/outlined by the KAP Instructor
Responds to children's spontaneous needs and interests
Supports culturally appropriate and inclusive programming
Supports children's learning through play and helps maintain the classroom environment
Maintains clear communication with K.A.P. Instructor
Collaborates with divisional ECE Program Coordinator, school administrators, kindergarten teacher, and

school/divisional learning support teams.

Completes daily observations on students as directed by the K.A..P Instructor.
Takes part in professional development.

Qualifications:

Child Care Assistant 40 hour course is desired
Proven ability to work with young children**
Knowledge of child development, emergent curriculum, and play based approach to learning would be

considered an asset.
***- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Excellent organizational and classroom management skills
Excellent communication and confilict resolution skills
Physically capable of engaging in a busy classroom and outdoors
Able to multitask compting needs of groups of children
Knowledge of inclusive practice and multicultural perspectives

As a condition of employment, all new hires must complete a satisfactory criminal record check with vulnerable
sector search, and child abuse registry check as part of the hiring process.
Salary & benefits for this position will be administered in accordance with the agreement between the applicable
employee group and the Seine River School Division.
