With the new Grande Prairie Regional Hospital opening, there is a variety of career options and specialization available for the career minded individual.Your opportunity is in the Complex Ambulatory Rehabilitation Program with a trans disciplinary focus on clients with MS, Parkinsons, out patient stroke, head injuries etc. This is an out patient rehabilitation program. You will also be overseeing two therapy assistants in a 10 bed sub acute program. We would love the opportunity to speak with you to share the opportunities and discuss your areas of interest. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

    Description:

    As a Recreation Therapist I, you will be working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, providing comprehensive services for patients (clients, residents) within your assigned program or service area. You will ensure the level of therapeutic recreation practice is evidence based, patient-and family-centred, and in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice. You will complete assessment, treatment, education and management of clients¿ treatment progress and provide clinical support and consultation. You will collaborate and communicate with the health care team and participate in patient rounds, family conferences and meetings as related to the client and family.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of bachelor's degree in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation or Recreation and Leisure Studies. Active or eligible registration with Alberta Therapeutic Recreation Association (ATRA).
