    The Opportunity:

    The City of Red Deer is currently recruiting for a CSV Process Optimization & Administrative Supports Supervisor to fill a full-time term position. Acknowledging the uniquerole of the municipality, the Community Services Division provides manyessential services and enhances the quality of life and social well-being ofRed Deer citizens.

    This CSV supervisor position is responsible for theleadership and effective, efficient, and customer-centered operations of theCommunity Services Process Optimization & Administrative Supports Sectionof CSV Business Excellence. This rolewill contribute directly to CSV division goals. The role has oversight and responsibility for the efficient andeffective administration of Community Service's Process Optimization andAdministrative Supports sections. Theprimary responsibility is to provide strategic advice in order to optimize theuse of the Division's portfolio of assets, investments and contributionsserving a wide range of citizens and customers. The Supervisor is responsiblefor recommending, supporting and executing project-based CSV process improvement,administrative supports and customer service focused projects to better thedelivery of community services in Red Deer. Working closely with a number ofsubject matter experts, the Supervisor will support Division Leadership intheir dealings with a large variety of process improvement project needs andcitizen-centered thinking across a broad variety of business lines.

    As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

  • A university degree in business administration,commerce, public administration, social sciences or a directly related field. Apostgraduate degree is considered an advantage.
  • Supplementary educational courses in management,leadership, project management, design thinking, process improvementmethodologies considered an advantage.
  • At least five years progressive management experiencerequired.
  • Experience in community development relating tocommunity safety and social issues, recreation, culture and facility operationswith experience in working with architectural/engineering consultants andcontractors, public works, transit, fleet or utilities considered an asset.
  • Experience with leading complex negotiations at asenior level and working collaboratively to deliver successful outcome-basedsolutions required considered an advantage.
  • Demonstrated communications skills; including theability to speak effectively in public and work cooperatively with the media,and to draft high quality reports and proposals.
  • Experience working in a unionized workplace andknowledge of Collective Agreements considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of City/Municipal operations, policies, riskmitigation and change management considered an asset.
  • Strong customer-service skills, with the ability toestablish effective working relationships with a variety of internal andexternal stakeholders.
  • Ability to deliver on highly time bound and communitysensitive work
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of economics, basic accounting principlesand the techniques of budget preparation and utility financial models.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to effectivelyinteract with internal staff as well as with other industry stakeholders,regulatory boards, provincial government and elected officials.
  • Excellent communications skills to functionappropriately with field staff, technical personnel, senior management,external stakeholders and elected officials.
  • Ability to make sound judgments, gather informationfrom a variety of sources and articulate findings effectively in oral and printformats.
  • Demonstrated commitment to training, mentoring,coaching and team building.
  • Collaborative problem solving and issues resolution.
  • Excellent analysis, assessment and decision-makingskills.
  • Ability to obtain thorough knowledge of AlbertaElectric Utility Codes and Regulations
  • Knowledge of project management practices andprinciples would be beneficial.
  • A valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator'sLicense with an acceptable driving record.

    Remuneration:

    $42.26 to $52.82 per hour

    Hours of Work:

    75hours biweekly; Monday to Friday, some evening andweekend work may be required at peak times.

    The term of this position is anticipated to end on August 1, 2025.
