Location:
Rotational throughout FGDC locations


Hours:
Regular Full-Time (Monday - Friday, 37.5 hours/week)


Compensation:
$ $32.00/hour

About the Role:

This role will be a regular full-time Pedagogical Support Lead for the organization.

At Fairy Glen Day Care Centres, you will work in the capacity of Pedagogical Support Lead that supports and mentors caring and enthusiastic educators in delivering quality child care programs.

You will work alongside the site supervisors to develop a culture of reflective practice the allows for the growth of pedagogy within our child care centres.

Pedagogical growth will align with our program statement and valued goals, as well as How Does Learning Happen? As the Pedagogical Support Lead you will also enhance cultural awareness and provide a perspective of equity, diversity, and inclusiveness within our centres.


Key Responsibilities Associated with the Role:

  • Working as a team with organizational educators, families, partners and outside agencies
  • Conduct regular site support visits
  • Create and nurture the leadership of all educators, through individual and team meetings, workshops, intentional sidebyside mentoring etc.
  • Support and encourage professional growth and individual goals
  • Utilizing the environment as the third teacher.
  • Respecting the space, equipment, materials and ensuring proper health requirements are always being met
  • Observe and document children's learning, highlighting their interests, ideas, natural curiosities, and potential.
  • Ensure that all educators, children, and families feel welcomed and safe within our centres.
  • Demonstrate acceptance by learning and acknowledging children and families diverse needs and backgrounds to affirm equitable opportunities for children to explore and engage.
  • Assist in planning, implementation and engagement of playbased experiences based on the children's interests
*Build and maintain relationships with families by including them in the learning process

  • Assist educators and site supervisors in building and maintaining learning environments both indoors and outdoors that are rich in potential and allow the children to thrive
  • Open communication and transparency with the organizations Program Manager and Executive Director
  • Must have the ability to lead, support, mentor and teach. Also, have the ability to work independently regularly.

Skills Set and Qualification Requirements:


  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working in a licensed child care environment. (Multi-Site an asset)
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Standard First Aid & CPR (C)
  • Uptodate immunizations including a 2Step TB test
  • WHIMIS, Health & Safety, Food Handlers, Accessibility Training and Ontario Human Rights Training
  • Demonstrate knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?, Durham Region's Operating Criteria (DROC), Child Care Early Years Act (CCEYA) and Durham Health regulations.
  • Efficient organization and time management skills
  • Must be able to travel to multiple locations within Durham Region on a regular basis
  • Sounds understanding of child development, current practices, and early learning perspectives
  • Must be able to contribute to a healthy team environment by demonstrating reliability, trustworthiness, accountability, professionalism, confidentiality and represent the organization with the community.

Salary:
$29.00-$32.00 per hour
