Summary of Duties:


The Cultural coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing cultural activities and events tailored to the Youth community of Lil'wat Nation.


Key Deliverables and Expectations:


  • Plan and execute both internal and external events aimed at reconnecting and strengthening Nt'akmen and Nxexmen values among the Youth community.
  • Organize traditional activities and outings such as berry picking, canning, arts, and music sessions to engage Youth in cultural experiences.
  • Provide holistic guidance and develop programs that cater to the overall wellbeing of Youth, incorporating cultural elements into their personal development.
  • Contribute to the creation of a comprehensive program focusing on enhancing life skills, achieving personal bests, and fostering family ties through culturally appropriate initiatives.
  • Develop budgets for events and activities, ensuring timely submission for payment processing.
  • Maintain detailed records of daily, weekly, and monthly activities/events to facilitate quarterly reporting and updates to the Youth Strategic Plan using designated implementation tools or Outcome Measurement Frameworks.
  • Promote Youth activities through various channels including social media, newsletters, posters, outreach efforts, and handling inquiries.
  • Establish and maintain networks with internal and external stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for Youth initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members on additional deliverables and projects as needed.
  • Possess basic knowledge of catering practices, and nutrition, and hold food safety certification.
  • Create, compile, and manage attendance records for each event, and provide feedback loops for continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Experience and Attributes:


  • Possess 1+ years of experience in planning and coordinating activities and events, including managing attendance, guests, materials, and room setup.
  • Comfortable and knowledgeable in facilitating cultural activities, ensuring meaningful and respectful engagement with participants.
  • Understanding of inclusive and safe space practices and principles.
  • Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, enabling effective problemsolving and decisionmaking both independently and as part of a team.
  • Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs.
  • Possession of basic first aid knowledge.
  • Possession of a valid Class 4 driver's license, along with access to a vehicle, is considered an asset.
  • Availability to work weekends and/or evenings as necessary to accommodate event schedules and participant preferences.
  • Clear criminal record check with vulnerable sector
