Position Overview:
The incumbent performs a variety of tasks relating to the registration, admission and communication of in-patients and out-patients for Hospital Services.
Experience:
- One year direct receptionist experience with patients and public contact in a health care setting required.
- Experience with various types of filing systems required.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate):
- Grade XII education.
- Medical Terminology Certificate required.
- Successful completion of a recognized program for Medical Administrative Assistant/Health Care Access Services, Unit Clerk, or the first year of a recognized Health Information Management Professional required.
Certification/Licensure/Registration:
- Not Applicable
Qualifications and Skills:
- Knowledge and ability to operate equipment including Fax Machine, printers, embosser, imprinter etc., required.
- Keyboarding speed minimum 40 wpm.
- Familiarity with statistics and general accounting would be an asset.
- Accuracy and thoroughness.
- Demonstrates effective and courteous communication skills in the English Language.
- Effective interpersonal skills in dealing with all levels of employees, patients and the general public.
- Ability to work with a mínimal supervision, demonstrating flexibility and independence in planning work.
- Ability to keep current with technology and to problem solve equipment breakdown and reporting.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Good physical and mental health to meet position demands.
