Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor performs general maintenance on the grounds.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Cuts grass with riding lawn tractor, waters plants, pulls weeds, and fertilizes.

Clean up of litter, sweeping of entrances and walkways

Assists staff with daily duties such as patching, touch-ups, painting, moving furniture and cleaning vents, etc.

Assists with set up and tear down for outdoor events.

Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience:

Secondary school education or an equivalent combination of training and experience

Skills & Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in English, both orally and in writing

Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment

Must be able to work with minimal supervision

Able to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing

Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public, residents, families, staff and suppliers in a courteous and tactful manner

Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual

Physical Demands:

This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling and lifting (varying amounts)

Must be able to bend, stretch and twist freely

Must be able to operate riding lawnmower, gas trimmer and air compressor

Assets:

Has a keen interest in working with the elderly

Previous experience in taking direction from others

Previous grounds work, painting, and working with hand tools.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer

Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies.

Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment

Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
