    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Supervisor performs general maintenance on the grounds.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cuts grass with riding lawn tractor, waters plants, pulls weeds, and fertilizes.
  • Clean up of litter, sweeping of entrances and walkways
  • Assists staff with daily duties such as patching, touch-ups, painting, moving furniture and cleaning vents, etc.
  • Assists with set up and tear down for outdoor events.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Experience:

  • Secondary school education or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely in English, both orally and in writing
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work well in a team environment
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Able to communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Superior customer service skills and the ability to deal with the public, residents, families, staff and suppliers in a courteous and tactful manner
  • Must be reliable, dependable, and punctual
  • Physical Demands:

  • This position requires constant standing/walking; frequent squatting/kneeling and lifting (varying amounts)
  • Must be able to bend, stretch and twist freely
  • Must be able to operate riding lawnmower, gas trimmer and air compressor
  • Assets:

  • Has a keen interest in working with the elderly
  • Previous experience in taking direction from others
  • Previous grounds work, painting, and working with hand tools.
  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • Must provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at point of conditional offer
  • Prior to commencing employment, will be required to review and attest/affirm to all Pioneer Ridge Staff Immunization Policies.
  • Must have successfully undergone a "two step" tuberculosis skin test within the 12 months prior to employment
  • Must undergo a successful Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
