abrasives, air tools, hand tools, material handling, lifting equipment and safety apparel and products.
Our USA headquarters is in Elgin, Illinois, the Canadian location is headquartered in Vancouver, Canada with six branch offices located in the major cities across Canada.
We are looking for a Warehouse Team Leader at our Edmonton branch.The Warehouse Team Leader will be responsible for the complete execution of the receiving of product and transfers to all branches.
This role will have responsibility for all receiving, inbound and transfer transportation related activities.Responsibilities
Primary:
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure continued compliance with the Occupational health and Safety act;
- Ensure/monitor that that all team members are following all safety policies and procedures;
- Train all new employees on their functions in accordance with the training program, train on safety procedures and position hazard and ensure training is provided on all new functions or processes;
- Manage the workflow of the receiving and transfer teams;
- Direct the receiving and transferring activity of products, supplies and RGAs;
- Communicate and document transactions, including vendor damage claims
- Responsible for ensuring all receiving products meet all quality packaging and marking requirements including completion of all paperwork;
- Maintain a dialogue with Supply Chain on the receiving and transfer calendars to be aware of any changes/modifications to the calendar;
- Direct the team on priorities and the priorities of the warehouse as a whole;
- Plan, drive and deliver any agreed initiatives related to receiving and transfers;
- Ensure receiving activity is achieved within Company standards;
- Empower, inspire and motivate staff;
- Act as a single point of contact for employee on operational issues, concerns and provide followup in a timely manner;
- Active participant in daily Team Leader meetings discussing daily requirements and challenges;
- Establish and maintain an opendoor environment, accessibility, approachability and visibility to warehouse employees;
- Manage the team to meet housekeeping standards;
- Ensure compliance with loss prevention practices.
Secondary:
- Load, unload and move products by hand or with basic material handling equipment;
- Operate a variety of equipment to unload and load and move products (sit down counterbalance, reach truck and order picker);
- Weigh products, wrap goods and pack and unpack products;
- Process incoming requisitions which includes picking, checking and packing orders;
- Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices and other documents
- Shipment of orders;
- Restock bins;
- Maintain and organize inventory;
- Clean warehouse constantly, including maintaining and cleaning office equipment in the warehouse;
- Act as an environmentally responsible and good community member;
- Other duties and projects assigned as required.
Education and Competencies
- Proven track record in being and holding team members accountable;
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written);
- Excellent customer service skills;
- A selfstarter who takes initiative and leads by example;
- A team player and leader with a positive disposition;
- Working knowledge (MS Outlook, MS Word, Excel);
- Exceptional problemsolving skills;
- Ability to multitask and deal with changing priorities;
- Ability to motivate staff and redirect on a regular basis;
- Physically able to lift heavy shipments and products between 25 to 50 lbs;
- Ability to operate industrial Raymond reach trucks, pallet jacks and order picker forklifts;
