- Phlebotomy
- Set-up and monitor tests as appropriate
- Identify patient, receive sample and explain collection procedure
- Process samples according to lab procedures
- Performs specific tests on urine as required
- Label and sort specimens
- Administrative tasks including logging information, order entry, reporting, data processing, filing and retrieving records
- Perform proper infection prevention and control strategies/processes
- Appropriate preparation of kits/agents
- Commitment to working within Homewood's Health and Safety Standards
- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant Program, with 1 to 2 years related experience or; equivalent hands on experience
- Registered with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science and/or OSMT preferred
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment (centrifuge) and methods for packaging specimens and venipuncture
- Computer skills
