Position Description:


We are currently looking for a highly skilled, interested, and focused individual for our CRCE team with construction estimating experience.

Reporting to the President, the Estimator will be responsible for calculating major construction cost estimates, tenders, and pre-bid qualification. The estimator will work with the estimating team through the estimating process and tender closings.


Responsibility

Here's What You'll be Responsible for:

  • You will be responsible for estimating multiple projects with values ranging from $100,000 to $35,000,000.
  • Ability to lead pursuits and review project estimates with management, preparing and maintaining bid packages and tender documents.
  • Contacting subcontractors and suppliers to ensure timely bid submissions and accurate quotations
  • Performing accurate takeoffs manually and with the use of electronic estimating software.
  • Attending sitevisits.
  • Complete prebid form and set up summary sheet
  • Fill out bonding and insurance requests and submission.
  • Prepare subtrade request list
  • Listing of special materials and calling for prices.
  • Deal with the RFI's internally and from clients and sub contractors
  • The ability to read and understand soils and designated substance reports are a must. The ability to conduct a cut and fill take off, excavation backfill, site servicing, and formwork and concrete quantities and pricing are a must.
  • Ability to work on unitrate tenders and ability to perform take off in direct relation to the units.
  • Ability to attend site visits (personal vehicle is a must), take pictures, notes, and interacting with owner / consultant.
  • Ability to recap, price, and extend quantity take off.
  • The reading, understanding, and distribution off all addenda.
  • Ability to build a preliminary tender schedule based on the major and long delivery dates and review with our construction department.
  • Ability to identify risk, or opportunity avenues.
  • Preparation of the tender form in advance.

Qualification Requirements

  • Technical College diploma, or equivalent combination of technical training and/ or related experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years in the infrastructure construction industry or equivalent.
  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.
  • Proven ability to successfully manage a tender closing.
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment, methods), industry practices, estimating/ budgeting.
