THE OPPORTUNITY


The Supervisor of Quality Control provides immediate supervision to a group of Quality Control employees in their successful execution of key quality responsibilities, assigned tasks, and checks work at frequent intervals to ensure that Quality Control objectives and accountabilities are met.

A portion of time is normally spent performing individual tasks related to the unit.

The Supervisor also serves as a resource of technical knowledge for established assays and exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assign tasks, review work at frequent intervals, and maintain schedules for the lab employees.

Use analytical data and/or statistical concepts such as SPC, regression analysis, and product and material trends to understand variables impacting assay and process performance.

Lead laboratory investigations and provide oversight to the content of investigation reports, as well as lead complex nonconformance investigations.
Aid in the design of method validations and schedule the execution of validation study testing including method transfer activities.

Assess the compliance status of current test methods and equipment and benchmarks against industry practice and ensure compliance with established requirements.

Serve as system owner for one or more quality systems.

Assist in the maintenance of quality plans, including tracking and advancing initiatives, routinely reporting progress and maintaining documentation in a manner suitable for regulatory submission or inspection.

Coordinate/lead cross-functional teams in process mapping and other exercises designed to facilitate process and system understanding.
Lead the development, coordination and presentation of training materials from initial concept to program completion.
Coach employees through problems of diverse scope in which analysis of situations or data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Directs subordinates to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies.
Coach employees in the areas of performance and provide routine guidance and performance feedback. Act as an advisor to the unit and resolve problems to meet business objectives.

Work in collaboration with direct manager, subordinates, internal customers and other cross functional peers to gain alignment on sound quality decisions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, accompanied by a bachelor's degree in science, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Requires a broad scope of technical knowledge to assist with modeling or design, complex troubleshooting, draft method validation protocols, and/or investigate complex deviations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Thorough knowledge of GMP and WHMIS and biohazard safety awareness
Scientific knowledge of standard practices in area of assignment
Knowledge of supervisory practices and techniques
Ability to conduct investigative interviews


ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Citizenship/Permanent Resident or Valid Work Permit.
Successful Completion of a Criminal Record Check.
Medical assessment required upon hire.
