Job Description:


Role and Responsibilities:


NAL Group Analysis & Reporting:


  • Process the LifeUSA and Optimum quarterly estimates to admin SICS system including analysis and reconciliation. Working closely with actuary team to manage quarterly reporting for these businesses.
  • Process the Canadian quarterly technical estimates to the SUN ledger including analysis and reconciliation.
  • Assist in preparation of consolidated NAL region quarterly/YTD business Ops Review package under USGAAP, incl. production, financials, and investment at both geographic (US, Canada) and line of business view; analyzed KPIs incl. Net Premium Earned, Life Tech Result against Plan with identified key drivers.
  • Prepare consolidated NAL region quarterly/YTD Audit Committee slides package under USGAAP with supporting files, incl. net premiums written, technical result and cash flow at both geographic and line of business view, provided commentary on changes to PY; identified and analyzed consolidation structure and system constraints, ensured all consolidated balances reconcile back to source GL.
  • Assist and support the L&H Group internal and external reporting requirements.
  • Other L&H reporting incl. Covea request contradictory review, shortterm duration for NAL region, SP credit concentration, etc.

NAL and Legal Entity Expenses Analysis & Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyze PRE corporate allocation process, incl. corporate head-office recharges, SLA (service level agreement) expenses and revenues with affiliated entities. (Managed SLA with US entity prior to implementation of automated allocation process by corporate).
  • Analyze and evaluate the expenses allocation assumptions and basis implemented for various departments within Canadian legal entity.
  • Escalate existing allocated expenses issues for Canadian legal entity considering new business model for Toronto office as hiring hub, explained the appropriate cost allocation techniques and analyzed the potential impact to support decision making by senior management.
  • Evaluate data and information inputs (including assumptions) of annual operating expenses plan at NAL scope, analyzed the consolidated plan and implications of variance at both department and account level.
  • Prepare PLRC annual budget and consolidate the NAL annual budget for submission to PlanEx. Analyze and monitor Opex budget information stored in PlanEx (internal reporting system), develop dynamic presentation deck leveraging PlanEx data output for senior management review prior to final submission, ensured only intended users have access to confidential information.

Canadian Legal Entity Indirect and Corporate Tax Analysis & Reporting:

  • Calculate self-assessed HST and prepare annual indirect HST filing working papers for PWC.
  • Researched ITA and supported Group Taxes to develop YE corporate taxes provision accruals journal entry; prepared monthly corporate tax instalment schedule, set up and monitor the payments in RBC tax filling services.

Others:


  • Prepare quarterly Investment Committee presentation deck with supporting documents for senior management and board meeting.
  • Monitor and Support the Claims Analytics AR.
  • Review monthly investment and bank reconciliations prepared by Junior FA, premium suspense accounts reconciliation prepared by admin team, provided guidance on how to analyze and explain the discrepancies to support resolving the issue.
