HORTICULTURE WORKER - YOUTH SUMMER JOB

KW Habilitation is a local not-for-profit organization that provides a wide range of individualized services and supports to children with any special need and adults with developmental disabilities.

We support individuals to live a fulfilling life which is fostered through preschool and early learning supports, respite services, residential services, community participation and employment supports.

Our Farm not only grows fresh, healthy food, but sows positive relationships between people and nurtures the roots of community, sustainability, and land use.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to join our team for the 2023 season.

Responsibilities:


  • Follow an urban garden site map and complete assigned tasks of opportunity, with the coaching and mentoring of the Farm Coordinator
  • Assist with food security initiatives
  • Plant, weed, water, harvest, sort, and set up a grab and go market and stock

Requirements:


  • Enjoy working outdoors in different weather conditions and able to do physical labour
  • Previous work experience in a garden type setting, and knowledge of plants and planting would be considered assets

To be eligible for the above position, youth must satisfy the following criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment,
  • Selfidentify as being part of a group who is underrepresented or have additional barriers to the labour market.
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada and have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN),
  • Able to work 30 hours per week including day, evening and weekend shifts, and
  • Able to arrange own transportation to and from work.

Pay Rate:
$15.50 per hour
