Summary of responsibilities:


Reporting to the Manager, New Technology Introduction the Technical Writer is responsible for writing, editing, and proofing for several key technical documents targeted to Screening Officers, Maintenance Providers and operational personnel across Canada and for several key technical and information documents related to the evaluation and introduction of new screening technology.

The Technical Writer performs all other duties and responsibilities related to the position as required.


What you need to succeed

To qualify for the position, you must have:

  • Graduation from a recognized college or university with specialization in Translation, Linguistics, Journalism, Communications, or another specialty relevant to the duties of the position;
  • A minimum of three (3)years of experience in writing, editing, comparative editing of a wide variety of materials;
  • Experience working in an environment that focuses on high standards of quality and tight deadlines;
  • Experience using a variety of writing and editing tools and software.

This position is best suited to individuals with the following skills and abilities:

  • Exceptional communication skills both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize; strong organizational skills;
  • Deadlineoriented;
  • Very high attention to details and sense of urgency;
  • Team player who also has the ability to work independently;
  • Ability to synthesize complex information in a clear and concise manner;
  • Work well under pressure and adjust quickly to changing priorities.

Valuable skills include:


  • Knowledge of CATSA's mandate and priorities, as well as an awareness of relevant legislation affecting CATSA;
  • Experience with terminological and linguistic databases;
  • Experience in writing and editing technical documents;
  • Experience related to aviation security;
  • Experience using Information Mapping methodologies.

Specific work requirements

  • Ability to work overtime as required;
  • Ability to travel as required;
  • Language Profile: English essential,
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance;
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
