    Description
    POSITION PURPOSE Reporting to the Program Manager, Corridor Control, is responsible for processing and evaluating utility and permit applications, including technical and analytical operational reviews, prior to the issuance of Municipal Consents and permits relating to new utility installations vehicle loads, special events, road encroachments, closures and filming on the Regional right-of-ways; and co-ordinating the dissemination of traffic safety related information to Road Patrols, Dispatch and through public medium, filing of digital drawings.
    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES


    • Acknowledges, investigates, prepares documentation and recommends approval for Municipal Consents and permits for utility installations, special events, road encroachments, filming and vehicle loads (oversized/overweight) affecting the operation of Regional roads.
    • Conducts technical review of application and analyzes information to ensure compliance with Regional standards and operational requirements prior to approval of the Municipal Consent or permit.
    • Co-ordinates and controls the processing of all Municipal Consents and permits in compliance with Regional and Municipal policies.
    • Reviews and provides comments on utility plans for development and engineering approval.
    • Reviews and provides comments on road designs and reviews utility cost sharing estimates.
    • Maintains contract drawings using e-drawings.
    • Liaises with outside agencies to ensure the uniformity of transportation operational policies and the collection and exchange of traffic related data.
    • Prepares written correspondence to internal staff and external agencies.
    • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
    QUALIFICATIONS


    • Minimum one (1) year experience in an operational road or traffic activity environment and in municipal and highway road design and drafting.
    • Valid Ontario Class "G" driver's licence and relaible vehicle for use on corporate business.
    • Working knowledge of relevant regulations, guidelines, procedures, standards and legislation including Occupational Health and Safety Act, traffic by-laws and Regional policies.
    • Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.
    • Ability to set priorities and meet required deadlines.
    • Ability to work outside regular business hours as required.
