Design Student

What You'll Be Working On

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Design Student to join our team.

This role offers an exceptional opportunity for a passionate individual studying in the construction field, and looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

The Design Student will collaborate with our team, assisting in the creation of design plans, project documentation, and contributing to various stages of construction design.

We are seeking a student to join us for a 4-8 month co-op position starting in May 2024. This position will be based out of Mississauga, ON.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the design and engineering team to assist in creating and modifying technical drawings and specifications.
Ensuring that design schedules are maintained and tracking design team deliverables
Support in researching materials, construction techniques, and building codes to ensure compliance and quality in design.
Assist in the preparation of project documentation, reports, and presentations.
Collaborate on design iterations and revisions based on feedback and project requirements.
Take on additional responsibilities or tasks related to construction design as required.

Who We Need On Our Team- You are currently enrolled in an engineering ,architecture, or construction related diploma or equivalent- You will complete at least one more semester of education following your internship and possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher- Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently- Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships- Exemplify the Ideal Team Player - Hungry, Humble, Smart- Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills- Sense of urgency and strong commitment to achieving goals- Ability to work collaboratively with a positive attitude- Residency, or a valid work permit which would allow you to work for Bird Construction or one of our wholly owned subsidiaries- If you are selected for a role with client specific requirements, you may be required to successfully complete a pre-employment Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug testing.
