BASIC FUNCTION:


  • The Controller plans, organizes, directs, controls, and evaluates the financial and accounting operations.
  • The role is responsible for developing and implementing the financial policies and systems of the Company as well as for establishing performance standards and preparing various financial reports for senior management.
  • The scope of the position also oversees the Accounting and Finance team.
  • The position requires a selfmotivated and selfdirected solutions focused individual with high attention to detail and a sense of urgency for getting things done and manages direct reports to do the same.
  • The Controller is forward thinking analyzing and planning for the future, not just reporting on the past.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • The following are the primary qualifications for this position:_
Education

  • Accounting designation (CPA/CGA) or equivalent
  • Clear understanding of ASPE (Accounting Standards for Private Enterprise)
Experience

  • 5+ years of overall combined accounting and finance experience with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
  • Payroll and benefits administration experience
  • Experience with creating financial
  • 2+ years' experience managing accounting
  • Able to aid in the development, review and management of budgets and related
  • Solid grasp of financial documentation and
  • Excellent problemsolving and analytical
  • Excellent time management and organizational
  • Strong attention to
  • Effectively contributes to systems
  • At least three years of experience in a senior role in a similar Small Medium Enterprises (SME)
  • Knowledge of Landscape construction industry an asset
Technical

  • Proficient in the Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Office, ) with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding and experience using an ERP systems/other accounting With the ability to operate and be responsible for a multi company environment.
  • Understanding of the Payroll Functions and the BC Employments Standards
  • Understanding of GST, PST and all payroll related government remittances.
  • Understanding of the BC Lien Act and Holdbacks

AUTHORITIES:


  • The following are primary authorities granted:_

Financial:

  • Approval for payments (prior to signing authorities)
  • Accounts payable oversight and escalations
  • In conjunction with VP Construction &

Maintenance Manager:
Oversee Accounts Receivable


Leadership:

  • Lead and oversee the Accounting & Finance

DUTIES:


  • The following are the primary duties:_

Financial:

  • Builds leads and develops the finance and Finance team, assuming full accountability of management and review of all accounting operations including AR, AP, GL, cost accounting, and revenue recognition
  • Maintain all the necessary reporting to regulatory bodies (GST, PST, PD7A, WCB, EHT, Tax installments)
  • Maintain all banking relationships and quarterly & annual reporting as required.
  • Maintain relationship with General Liability Insurance provide, prepare annual renewals and submit COI requests as required.
  • Maintain the cash flow and working capital in adherence to any covenants in
  • Ensure any excess cash reserves are invested to maximize return.
  • Assists in financial evaluations to support capital investment
  • Establishes and maintains financial and operating benchmarks, budgets and reporting standards on a monthly and annual basis.
  • Prepares accurate, complete and relevant financial statements, summaries, and other costbenefit analyses and financial management reports to Management no later than 15 business days after the last day of the month to ensure accurate rolling forecasts and support other financial planning & adherence to corporate and project
  • Provide strategic recommendations to the Leadership team
  • Manage the processes for financial forecasting and budgets
  • Updates and reports to senior management concerning any trends that are critical to the organization's financial performance.
  • Work with external tax accountant (if required) to ensure Year Ends are complete as well as schedules are prepared, and taxes are filed and paid on time.
  • Acts as liaison between the organization and its external financial and conducts internal audits as necessary.
