Position Overview:


Reporting directly to the Director of Finance, the Financial Controller plays a pivotal role in overseeing and managing the financial activities of MaxSold.

The primary responsibilities include overseeing the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring compliance with government regulations, and working directly with all departments to meet all of our stakeholders needs.


Responsibilities:

The Financial Controller is responsible for carrying out and / or overseeing the the following functions:

  • Preparing financial analysis and insights that will be used for decision making by the Director Finance, CFO, Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Executive and Department Leads.
  • Ensuring compliance with transfer pricing agreements.
  • Complete weekly, monthly and annual close processes.
  • Filing and monitoring of value added taxes, payroll taxes, and corporate taxes for both Canada and the US (including state and county/municipal reporting)
  • Working with colleagues in Finance and other departments to implement and oversee accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Supporting all departments with timely response to stakeholder related inquiries.
  • Leading the annual financial audit.
  • Participating in cross functional teams on various projects.
  • Building and maintaining working relationships with bankers, insurers, merchant card providers and auditors.
  • Working with Operations, collecting auction proceeds and distribution of chattel payments.
  • Accounts payable and procurement.
  • Bank and credit card reconciliations.
  • Cash management.
  • Processing payroll, annual T4s, ROEs, and other employee forms as required.
  • Assist with Canadian and US government tax related audits and inquiries.
  • Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications & Experience:


  • Chartered Professional Accountant or equivalent experience.
  • NetSuite experience is preferred.
  • At least 5 years' experience postcertification, which includes experience in private enterprise.
  • Exceptional and proven communication, organizational, analytic, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in support of the company's strategic objectives.
  • Knowledge of applicable Canadian accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations is required, and familiarity with US tax regulations is preferred
  • Critical thinking and problemsolving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience with working in a datadriven environment.
