Westside is currently recruiting for Preschool Lead Programs Assistant. This is a seasonal/temporary position with full time (30) hours per week. This position will be funded by the Canada Summer Job Grant.

This is an exciting, hands-on supervisory and leadership role and includes but is not limited to the following responsibilities:

To supervise, lead and instruct summer daycamps & programs for preschoolers ages 12M6Y in group games, sports, physical literacy, performing arts, crafts, swimming and more
To provide a safe, fun and quality daycamp experience
To provide leadership to campers of all ages and abilities
Supervision of leaders, leaders in training and volunteers
To complete all the required daycamp lesson planning and evaluation of camps
Actively and enthusiastically participate in all aspects of the daycamps
Setup/takedown, cleaning and general maintenance of equipment
Administrative duties as required
Day to day risk management skills
Group control and behavior management of campers
Assist in program research and development of program curriculum
Assist in staff training
Assist with staff supervision and Sr. Coverage as needed

Preschool Lead Programs Assistant Position:

Summer daycamps run from July 3

Mandatory training will commence June 20th, 2023 (dates below)
Must be available a minimum of 8 out of 9 weeks of summer season (July 3
Sept 1, 202

3)

Requirements:

Must be available for mandatory training on June 20, June 24, June 2629, 202
Must have current Alberta Approved First Aid training agency
CSA Standard Z Intermediate First Aid and must be valid through to Sept 1, 202
Successful applicant must have a clear Vulnerable Sector Search completed at their own cost
You must be aged between 18 and 30 and be legally entitled to work in Canada, International students are not eligible (Based on Canada Summer job Grant Requirements)

Experience and Qualifications:

3+ years previous experience in working in an early childhood setting including daycamps, recreational programs or preschool
Relevant certifications (such as NCCP/High 5) considered an asset
Education, experience and certifications in physical literacy and fundamental movement skills considered an asset
Early childhood education (Level 1) & similar certifications considered an asset
