    Maintenance Operator (1 year contract)

The company owns and operates landfills, waste transfer and haulage facilities, Biosolids processing plants, composting facilities, food/residual organic processing facilities and landfill gas renewable energy projects throughout Canada. Our product brands, created from the recovery of resources often considered waste, include N-Rich, All Treat Farms and Gro-Bark.

    Maintenance Operator

    Today, we have an opening for a Maintenance Operator at our Halifax Biosolids plant on a temporary (1) year contract.

    Our philosophy to biosolids management is simple – complete the cycle. We recover the valuable resources contained in this "waste" and return them to the earth where they belong.

    Responsibilities:

    • Compliance monitoring;
    • Daily data entry;
    • Operate and maintain process equipment;
    • Ensure all regular/preventative maintenance is performed and documented;
    • Maintain inventory of tools, replacement parts and supplies;
    • Document daily processing parameters.
    • Maintain plant cleanliness and organization.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 graduate with some post-secondary training preferred. Post-secondary students in engineering/technology, skilled trades, environmental science or other related fields will also be considered.
    • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
    • Heavy Equipment experience preferred– (i.e. wheel loader)
    • Work in a rotating shift schedule with evenings and weekend work
    • Be able to work alone occasionally
    • Ability to work in small teams
    • Have a mechanical aptitude to troubleshoot process and equipment issues.
    • Perform light preventative maintenance duties and support Lead Hand with larger repairs.
    • Familiarity with analytical sampling methods for environmental compliance monitoring.
    • Required to be clean shaven for occasional respirator use.
