A day in the role as a Housekeeping/ Laundry Aide at Champlain Long Term Care Residence.

At Champlain Long Term Care Residence you will be placed in a role with high expectations as you will provide exemplary housekeeping needs to the residents of our home.

A laundry aide is responsible for sorting, washing, drying and folding linen and personal clothing and delivers laundry and personal clothing, in accordance with established policies and procedures.

In this position you will be apart of our housekeeping team, and will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Receives laundry and sorts according to type, condition and weight. Follows specific instructions for treatment of soiled linens. Separates loads according to classification.
  • Washes and dries laundry following instructions for machine operations, designated washing and drying times, etc. Sorts personal clothing or puts aside for repairs or ironing. Folds laundry as required, sorts and delivers to appropriate units.
  • Observes operation of machines and reports malfunctioning to Supervisor. Assists in maintaining laundry facilities, equipment and supplies. Cleans machines as required and cleans and tidies floors and laundry area.
  • Adheres to established department policies, procedures and objectives regarding quality management, safety, environment and infection control.
  • Other duties as assigned and or indicated in Job Task Inventory


As a housekeeping aide, you are expected to maintain high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the home by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned work areas following established policies and procedures.

In this position you will be apart of our housekeeping team, and will be responsible for but not limited to:

  • Receives assignment, assembles required materials and supplies, loads service cart and transports to work area.
  • Using specified cleaning/disinfecting/sanitizing agents and following specific procedures, work patterns and routines, performs tasks such as: vacuuming, sweeping, dry/wet mopping, scrubbing, sanitizing/disinfection floors, spot cleaning walls, windows and doors between washing, dusting, washing, sanitizing/disinfecting furniture, shelves, woodwork, etc., emptying waste baskets and rearranging furniture, removing waste, daily cleaning and disinfecting daily all bathroom fixtures and replenishing supplies, cleaning floors, fixtures and furnishings in utility rooms, kitchen closets, etc.
  • Ensures privacy of residents during performance of duties.
  • Prepares room for new occupant following prescribed procedures.
  • Notifies ESM when supplies are low or equipment is malfunctioning.
  • Returns unused supplies and cleans and stores equipment.
  • Identifies potential liability issues and takes action to minimize risk
  • Other duties as assigned and or indicated in Job Task Inventory

The qualifications needed to join our family at Champlain Long Term Care Residence are as follows:


  • Bilingual
  • French and English
  • French Speaking Preferred
  • Basic understanding of washer and dryer operations and some knowledge of chemicals used in the process.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.

Must have a clear vulnerable sector screen, no older than 6 months, TB test results less than 6 months, evidence of flu shot must be able to provide three work references
