JOB SUMMARY:


In accordance with the established vision and values of Gateway, the Accounting Manager provides support to the CFO and the entire Senior Executive Team (SET). The Accounting Manager will play an integral role in managing the accounting department. The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing and managing the company's accounting functions, including establishing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures as well as the preparation of financial statements and reporting to senior management, site leaders and other external stakeholders. The Accounting Manager also maintains the company's accounting systems and implements changes as required. In addition, the Corporate Accounting Manager will also be assigned responsibility for work on specific projects that are to be completed through collaboration with other Gateway staff and external stakeholders.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements for senior management and financial institutions, ensuring that all reporting requirements are met
  • Ensure the timely close of the accounting system and oversees the timely production, review and distribution of monthly financial reports to site leaders and senior management
  • Responsible for the accuracy and timeliness of financial information
  • Implementation and management of internal controls with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis, and reporting
  • Set priorities within accounting group
  • Coordination of the yearend audit and preparation of audited financial statements
  • Coordinate all other regulatory and financial audits
  • Oversee the accuracy of the work produced by accounting department personnel
  • Respond to adhoc requests from the CFO and other staff in a timely manner
  • Responsible for all other financial reporting to various stakeholders and agencies (lenders, health authorities, WCB, regulatory bodies, etc.)
  • Generation of reports of performance against budgets
  • Supporting new systems or project selections and implementation from a strategic finance and internal control perspective
  • Ensure rapid and consistent collection of receivables by refining and implementing control mechanisms
  • Oversee the processing and approval of the payroll and ensure that appropriate levels of control are in place to safe guard the payroll systems
  • Promote and maintains positive corporate relations with financial stakeholders
  • With input from the CFO, responsible for the formulation of accounting policies, procedures and controls
  • Hiring, training, mentoring and supervising accounting staff
  • Other duties as assigned by the CFO or SET

QUALIFICATIONS

  • University degree, preferably in Accounting or Business
  • Professional accounting designation
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience in an Accounting Managership position
  • Experience managing an accounting department
  • Experience overseeing audits performed by external audit firms
  • Financial analysis, budgeting and some strategic planning experience

Equipment:
Demonstrates knowledge of applicable computer hardware and software programs, in particular the ability to perform analytics using Excel.

Purpose:

Salary:
From $70,000.00 per year
