Role Purpose :

• Prepares and maintains sketches, maps, reports, and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify, and assume liability for work performed for redlines and as built drawings.
• Plans and conducts ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations, and other geodetic measurements using GPS and robotic survey equipment and software
• Verifies the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.
• Records the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation, and dimensions of existing conditions or new construction features.
• Interprets contract items and distribute quantities in applicable unit pay items.
• Calculates heights, depths, relative positions, property lines, and other characteristics of existing conditions or new construction features.
• Interprets contract drawings and calculates cubic volumes (i.e. cut to waste, cut to fill, sub-excavation)
• Performing topography and quantity surveying for earthworks and construction layout

Position Requirements :

• Completion of post-secondary diploma in a civil engineering technology/construction management program.
• Minimum 5 years of practical surveying/layout experience on heavy civil construction projects.
• Proficient in Robotic Total Station, GPS, CAD and MS Office software.
• Proficient with the use of GPS and survey measurement equipment.
• Mathematical aptitude to complete surveying calculations.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, maps, plans and layout sheets and keep legible survey notes.
• Ability to work with a construction team and report to a project manager and superintendents regularly.
• Excellent communication skills for maintaining relationships with employees and public
• A valid G or class 5 driver's license is required.
• A valid CCQ card will be considered and asset.
