Job Description:


  • What you'll be doingThe Manager, Consumer Insights is responsible for supporting Customer Marketing, Sponsorships and other key business partner effectiveness by helping design and implement research programs to answer strategic business issues and challenges. You are responsible for the day to day management of all aspects of these programs, as well as recommending improvements to research approaches and analysis, and formulating recommendations to help improve future business performance. The role applies advanced concepts to identify key consumer trends and anticipate future issues, actively evaluating opportunities to improve existing communications, products and services, customer facing advice and internal processes. The Manager, Consumer Insights uses independent judgement, business acumen, and knowledge of market research resources to provide insights consulting expertise, respond to inquiries and requests from business partners, and liaise with internal partners and external vendors in an agile manner. The role works autonomously on daytoday work, generating insights while integrating consumer needs, behaviour and market trends. The role regularly recommends new processes, acting as a resource integrator for their area and independently resolving complex matters.

  • Research & Panel Expertise
  • You have strong time management skills, are selfstarting and respond with agility, working with internal business partners in Marketing, Sponsorships and crossfunctional external communications teams to understand and scope needs, and deploy appropriate programs and lead investigations to address these. Ability to develop questionnaires, field studies, pull results and succinctly summarize insights in deck format is essential. You will hone your thought leadership expertise by providing an integrated and objective perspective of the market and consumer needs, behaviour and attitudes; ability to extract and synthesize insights and market intelligence from many different primary, syndicated, and secondary sources to tell a clear story and identify recommended actions will be instrumental to your success at CIBC.

  • You require innovation and lateral thinking in research expertise and business interpretation. You possess depth and breadth of research knowledge specifically as it relates to consumer insights and market research, as well as a good understanding of business dynamics, and preferably knowledge of the financial services industry.

  • You have strong project management and analytical skills, with the ability to develop communications and presentations. You have strong interpersonal, influencing and negotiating skills, as you will be needed to convey complex conceptual information and ideas, as well as establish constructive longterm working relationships.


  • Relationship Building

  • You have strong relationship building skills, including communications and influencing skills sufficient to effectively articulate and manage the insights needs of your internal business partners, and translate these to external suppliers. You know how to communicate concisely, tailoring the level of detail to the audience's business needs.
Who You AreYou are fluent in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel). Experience working with Tableau, SPSS, and programming in Alida Sparq is an asset.
