    Description

    Martz Technologies is seeking a skilled Automation Technician to support the installation, testing, and troubleshooting of control systems across various client facilities and in our panel fabrication shop. This role requires strong hands‑on experience with electrical wiring, control panels, instrumentation, and basic PLC/HMI configuration. The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers and project managers to implement control system designs and ensure reliable system startup and operation.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Assist in control system installation, wiring, and troubleshooting in panel shop and field environments.
    • Fabricate, wire, test, and document UL‑rated control panels according to drawings and standards (UL508A).
    • Configure and program PLCs, HMIs, and related I/O modules under Engineering direction.
    • Perform field commissioning, functional testing, and diagnostics of automation systems.
    • Support network integration of controls, including industrial Ethernet and device communications.
    • Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and control system documentation.
    • Troubleshoot control systems, identify issues and implement corrective actions.
    • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to prepare project documentation, as‑built records, and technical reports.
    • Ensure compliance with safety procedures, company policies, and regulatory standards on job sites.
    • Maintain tools, test equipment, and inventory related to controls and automation tasks.

    Required Skills & Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Electrical Technology, Controls, or related field preferred.
    • 3+ years of experience in control systems installation, panel wiring, or industrial automation support.
    • Proficiency in PLC/HMI hardware and basic programming (Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, etc.).
    • Strong understanding of electrical wiring practices, control system components, and signals.
    • Ability to work in panel shop and in the field, including customer sites and industrial environments.
    • Comfortable with hands‑on installation, troubleshooting, and test procedures.
    • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
    • Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to client sites as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience with UL508A control panel fabrication.
    • Knowledge of industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, TCP/IP).
    • Prior experience supporting commissioning of PLC/SCADA systems.
    • Familiarity with AutoCAD or controls drafting concepts.

    Working Conditions


    This role involves work in both shop and field environments, including industrial client facilities. The Automation Technician may be exposed to variable conditions such as noise, confined spaces, and outdoor elements during installation and commissioning activities.

    Additional Requirements:

    • Applicant must live within 60 minutes of Berwick, PA.
