    An Isolated Post Allowance applies for employees working in Sioux Lookout to adjust for the higher cost of living. Please note, all rates below are subject to change.

    • Environmental allowance $1.74 per hour (with dependents) / $1.05 per hour (no dependents).

    • Living cost differential $ 5.86 per hour (with dependents) / $ 3.52 per hour (no dependents).

    • Fuel and utilities differential $ 1.86 per hour (with dependents) / $1.l2 per hour (no dependents).

    Indigenous Services Canada also provides a vacation travel allowance (VTA). The VTA supports one trip a year. As of April 1, 2023, adults and children able to apply for $1,704 per adult and $1,544 per child. The VTA amount may be adjusted on April 1 and October 1.

    Work environment

    By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to provide direct support to the delivery of health services and community based programming. You will build and support strong working relationships with First Nations and Inuit communities, families, and individuals, with a focus on improving health outcomes and reducing health risks.

    Workplace:
    The official workplace for the positions to be filled is located in Sioux Lookout. Successful candidates will be required to maintain a presence in Sioux Lookout.

    Intent of the process

    The immediate need is to staff (2) indeterminate positions in Sioux Lookout.

    A pool of qualified candidates will be established and may be used to staff identical or similar positions in various locations with various tenures such as permanent specified term, acting, assignments/secondments, or deployments. It may also be used to staff identical or similar positions by other regions or federal departments across Canada.

    Ed1 - Possession of a Dental Assistant Diploma Level II from an accredited Institution or successful completion of the National Dental Assistance Examination Board (NDAEB).

    Dental Assisting student enrolled in an accredited dental assisting program in their final semester are encouraged to apply.

    Please note: Appointment is contingent on successfully obtaining their level II dental assisting diploma AND successfully completing the National Dental Assistance Examination Board.

    You will be required to provide proof of education credentials prior to appointment. If you obtained your degree outside Canada, it is your responsibility to demonstrate its equivalence, please take a look at the following link for more information:

    OC1 - Eligibility for membership with Ontario Dental Assistants Association within the first year of employment

    E1 - Experience working as a Dental Assistant.

    AK1 - Knowledge of Abeldent software

    AC1 - Ability to communicate in Ojibway, Cree or Ojicree

    - Must have and maintain current BLS CPR certification
    - Valid driver's license or personal mobility to a degree normally associated with the possession of a driver's license
    - Willing and able to travel to remote and isolated locations within Ontario via small aircraft, vehicle or boat, travelling in some adverse road and weather conditions

    Medical Clearance
    i) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: a valid Category 1 medical clearance for their dependent(s) in accordance with section 4.2 of the Isolated Post and Government Housing Directive and Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule (;lang=eng&merge=3&did=4&vid=12&pv=1 )
    ii) For persons proposed for relocation to an isolated post/remote location and who have dependents: consent to their dependent(s) to undertake a Category 1 periodic health evaluation in accordance with Appendix A of the Occupational Health Evaluation Standard Schedule ((S(5xos1g45ufdaaz45lxatyqms))/doc-§ion=html)
