Think of instructing at Lighthouse Labs, like being a professor for a college/university course - but less work.

As an instructor, you will be asked to teach online lectures to corporate professionals to provide professional development for them.

At this time - we require a commitment of a minimum of 6 hours/ week that could be during the day.

Lighthouse Labs (LHL) is currently seeking a Part-Time Data Science Instructor to teach our corporate Advanced Data Analytics II program, focusing on the fundamentals of predictive analysis.

We are looking for a collaborative, empathetic, and passionate instructor who is dedicated to delivering high-quality education.

We are open to taking into account applicants from a variety of backgrounds, such as a data science industry specialist who has a strong desire to move into the teaching field.


If you have a strong passion for teaching and are enthusiastic about equipping corporate learners with essential skills to tackle real-world business challenges, this could be an excellent opportunity for you The teaching schedule for this role is from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm EST, on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Moreover, the teaching is conducted remotely, allowing you to work comfortably from your own home or any suitable location of your choice.


What you'll be doing:


  • Explain the four types of analytics (Descriptive, Diagnostic, Predictive, Prescriptive) and their roles in business decisionmaking.
  • Differentiate predictive data analysis from descriptive and prescriptive analysis.
  • Foster discussions on ethical considerations in Predictive Analytics, including issues like redlining and healthcare disparities.
  • Facilitate handson learning of statistical techniques and algorithms such as Regression Analysis, Decision Trees/Random Forests, Cluster Models, Time Series Modeling, and Native Bayes.
  • Teach students how to create, test, and implement predictive analytics models following the CRISP-DM framework.
  • Guide students in crafting effective business problem statements, identifying stakeholders, resources, constraints, and risks.
  • Lead sessions on data understanding, profiling, and exploration techniques to evaluate data suitability for analytics.
  • Instruct students on data preparation techniques, including cleaning, integration, transformation, and feature engineering.
  • Explore the analysis and modeling stage, emphasizing proper model selection, evaluation, and validation.
  • Train students in the presentation and deployment stages of the CRISP-DM model, emphasizing stakeholder communication, data visualization, and model deployment.
  • Prepare data for linear regression using EasyMorph's data transformation features and leveraging EasyMorph's calculation capabilities to estimate and interpret linear regression models.
  • Introduce students to sensitivity analysis, scenario modeling, and the Monte Carlo simulation for decisionmaking and risk assessment.
  • Provide guidance on generating random samples, performing calculations, and summarizing output metrics through statistical techniques.
  • Build simple visualizations and reports in Easymorph.
  • Output reports and visualization in EasyMorph.
  • Facilitate the creation of reports and visualizations to effectively communicate analysis results.

What we need from you:


  • You have at least 3 years of working experience in Data Analysis or Data Science
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring others and creating positive learning experiences
  • Knowledge of predictive analysis and its use in business
  • Understanding of statistical methods, such as the Bayes Theorem, Native Bayes, Decision Trees/Random Forests, Cluster Models, Time Series Modelling, and the Monte Carlo method of random sampling, that are frequently used in the industry for predictive analysis.
  • Competency in the CRISP-DM technique's analysis and modeling stages.
  • Proficiency of EasyMorph, including Data Profiling, Quality Check, data cleaning, and normalization, or the aptitude to pick up the programme fast and produce results with it.
  • Having knowledge of Microsoft Teams is a bonus
