Job purpose
The Maintenance Staff works with a team of professional staff that support the student leadership and goals of the organization
. The Maintenance Staff is responsible for performing regular maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance routines ensuring the CCSAI buildings and offices are safe and presentable.
Hours of work:
schedule based on business needs; work 15-20 hours per week (Monday to Friday); may require to work early morning or late at night, with occasional weekends and/or call work when required.
Willingness to adjust hours as required by the business to include being onsite for extended hours during events, change in business needs and emergency situations.
May be required to travel to other campusesDuties and responsibilities
Building Repair & Maintenance
- Performs regular facility maintenance and minor repairs duties
- Accomplish duties as assigned by the Manager, Operations Maintenance and the Operations Assistant
- Establishes and maintains repair, workshop and equipment areas at all CCSAI facilities and offices
- Responsible for other maintenance duties such as painting; moving, assembly and installations furniture, fixtures and equipment; plumbing work; relamping electrical fixtures; and/or minor grounds maintenance including snow removal and landscaping
- Assists the Manager, Operations Maintenance to prepare maintenance related documentation for Student Centre(s) and the Athletics and Wellness Centre
- Ensure facilities are maintained consistent with best practices and report to the Manager, Operations Maintenance and/or the Operations Assistant of any necessary requirements to ensure safety of all that access the facilities
- Fully conversant with, and fully adheres to, the bylaws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the CCSAI & the College
- Attends team meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the Manager, Operations Maintenance and/or the Operations Assistant
Qualifications
**Education: - Completion of a community college program leading to a Trade Certification in Electrical/ Millwright/ Carpentry/ Plumbing, or building operator, or licensed in trades or related field
- Experience in electrical/ millwright/ carpentry/ plumbing, or building operations
- Minimum of one year performing facility maintenance & repair work
- Must have completed courses in Preventative Maintenance, WHMIS, CPR and First Aid
- Maintains good working knowledge of the Ontario Health and Safety Act and practices safe work habits
- Experience using tools/equipment common to the trades
- Demonstrates knowledge in Microsoft Office, Outlook, Dropbox & Maintenance Care
- Demonstrates initiative and credibility, flexibility and adaptability
- Excellent organization and problemsolving skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
- Ability to work under pressure and coordinate many activities concurrently
- Ability to handle emergency and/or crisis situations effectively and efficiently
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs of supplies, furniture and equipment
- Ability to work at heights and operate lift devices
