The Sales Specialist is part of a team that is required to continue to create momentum and excitement through centre tours, and to maintain all sales functions and systems.

The Specialist assists the Supervisor/Director in providing leadership to the department volunteers and coaching department staff team during duty period, ultimately ensuring the direct delivery of quality service to all members of the YMCA Centre through leadership and effective management of the staff and operations of the Sales Desk.


In this role, you will:


  • Maintain YMCA standards and be a positive role model for our Mission, Vision, and Commitment to Service.
  • Make decisions and solve problems regarding membership sales functions, membership accounts, members' concerns, and members' behavior.
  • Coordinate and monitor sales and renewals, including follow up on promotions and organize data to ensure sales and renewal targets are met or exceeded.
  • Provide direct delivery at the Sales desk, model excellence in sales and service; utilize EYE Role Model, 7 Steps of Selling, Behavior Grids, and Coaching Techniques.
  • Assist the Sales Supervisor with the development of the Sales supplies budget, monitor, and maintain an adequate supply of all required printed materials, office supplies required for the department's use and function.
  • Assist Supervisor in recruiting and develop effective volunteer teams within the department.
  • Organize and perform the Membership Assistance Program Interviews and Reassessments.
  • Perform daily banking responsibilities such as cash outs, ensure targets are met and/or exceeded. Provide administrative support to the department and center as required.
  • Monitor Accounts Receivable, ensure followup on overdue accounts/members who are accessing the center, ensure the completion of the weekly Centre Accounts Receivable reports, cancel overdue accounts with 2 or more rejected payments and recommend to finance which accounts need to be written off.
  • Provide leadership and support as a member of the Center's senior staff team. Act as an effective Service Leader as required.
  • Participate in task groups, special assignments, and opportunities that further the Association's mission, vision, and strategic initiatives, including the Core Service Functional Group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

You bring:


  • Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing or related area and/or related experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience with CLASS and Raiser's Edge an asset
  • Minimum 2 years sales and customer service experience
  • Leadership experience an asset
  • Previous philanthropy involvement; planning, storytelling, volunteerism an asset
  • Current CPR, First Aid, and Healthy Child Development training an asset
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal and relationshipbuilding skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff, and volunteers
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, and weekends.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
